How to Reduce Echo in an Office or Restaurant

That harsh, tiring buzz in a busy restaurant or open office is not just the crowd. It is reverberation: sound bouncing off hard floors, glass and drywall until speech turns to noise. Here is how to calm it.

Why rooms get loud

Hard surfaces reflect sound instead of absorbing it. Reflections pile up, clarity drops, and people instinctively raise their voices to be heard, which makes the room louder still. Softening the surfaces breaks that cycle.

How much treatment do you need?

A practical starting point is to cover roughly 15 to 30 percent of a room's hard surface area with absorptive material. Spreading panels around the room works better than one large cluster, and both walls and ceilings are fair game.

What to install

Printed acoustic panels absorb the mid and high frequencies where speech lives. Our 1/2 inch panels reach NRC 0.55 flat (up to 0.65 with a 1 inch air gap), are Class A fire-rated (important for any commercial space), GREENGUARD Gold certified and made from recycled PET.

Make the fix look intentional

Acoustic treatment does not have to look like a recording studio. Choose canvas-like art panels or wood-look designs so the solution reads as decor, not equipment.
